Identification and Quantification of Cigarette Smoke Components
Charcoal filters used in cigarettes are designed to reduce the risk of lung cancer among smokers. However, there is limited published data on the effectiveness of charcoal filters to remove the harmful components of cigarette smoke. In this study, an optimizex sample preparation and chromatographic method was used to extract chemicals from charcoal-trapped cigarette smoke and then to identify and quantify the major components. More than 60 volatile compounds were identified and quantified. More...
