Phyllis Brown: A Story of Serendipity, Perseverance, Vision, and Chromatography
In the 1960s, Phyllis Brown dared to do what few chromatographers did: to apply high performance liquid chromatography — then still in its infancy — to real samples, particularly complicated ones like blood. In a new interview, Brown talks about what it was like to be a chromatography pioneer, and how she figured out what she had to do to get recognition in a male-dominated field.

Multidimensional and Comprehensive Two-Dimensional Gas Chromatography – Methods and Applications
Tuesday, November 13, 2012
2:00 PM EST; 11:00 AM PST
This presentation will review a number of the approaches available to bring innovative methods to the field of MDGC and GCxGC, discuss interpretation of some of these, and finally complete the tour of MDGC with selected applications.
Series: Increasing the Scope of your Analytical Toolbox with UltraPerformance Convergence Chromatography (UPC²)
Wednesday, November 14, 2012
9:00 AM EST; 15:00 (GMT + 1)
In this webcast series, we’ll discuss how analytical laboratories can benefit from UltraPerformance Convergence Chromatography™ (UPC²™) a new category of separation science that provides an exponential increase in performance and selectivity to the chromatographic laboratory.
Editors' Series: Turning up The Heat: Optimizing Temperature in Liquid Chromatography
Tuesday, November 27, 2012
9:00 AM EST; 15:00 (GMT + 1)
The use of high temperature in HPLC is very limited because of a general feeling that;

• Stationary phases are not stable at elevated temperatures.
• Compounds will thermally degrade at elevated temperatures.
This presentation will demonstrate that by using high temperatures effectively these pre-conceptions can be addressed and also introduce the chromatographer into a world of unforeseen benefits.
Editors' Series: Gas Chromatography with Single- and Triple-Quadrupole Mass Spectrometry: Principles, Potential, Limitations, and Applications
Tuesday, November 27, 2012
11:00 AM EST
In this web seminar, we will describe and critically compare the use of comprehensive two-dimensional (2D) gas chromatography (GC×GC) with a single-quadrupole mass spectrometer (MS), against one-dimensional GC in combination with a triple-quadrupole (QQQ) mass spectrometry instrument. The benefits and disadvantages of each methodology will be discussed, illustrated by examples from the field of food analysis. Also, the combination of GC×GC with a triple-quadrupole mass spectrometer will be discussed, along with a series of significant applications. The emphasis will not only be devoted to the potential of GC×GC-QQQ MS, but also to the following question: Does such a combination make sense?
Increasing the Scope of Your Analytical Toolbox with UltraPerformance Convergence Chromatography UPC²
Wednesday, November 28, 2012
9:00 AM EST; 15:00 (GMT + 1)
Do you know what your next sample will be? Could it be hydrophobic, hydrophilic, volatile, nonvolatile or chiral? Are you being challenged to reduce toxic solvent waste and go green? Which technique will you choose from your analytical toolbox to get the best possible separation? In this webcast series, we will be discussing how analytical laboratories can benefit from UltraPerformance Convergence Chromatography UPC² a new category of separation science that provides an exponential increase in performance and selectivity to the chromatographic laboratory.
Optimization of Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDEs) Extraction and Analysis using Accelerated Solvent Extraction and Triple Quadrupole GC-MS/MS Workflow
Thursday, December 6, 2012
8:00 AM PST; 11:00 AM EST; 15:00 GMT
This webinar demonstrates how a laboratory can increase workflow productivity, method sensitivity, and analytical reproducibility by automating the extraction and using single reaction monitoring (SRM) to eliminate the matrix and target PBDE congeners in household dust at low levels.
