New European Regulations to Confirm Dioxins in Food and Feed
Recent advances in gas chromatography/triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS) technology enable the high sensitivity and selectivity required for the European Commission to recommend its use for confirmation of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans–collectively referred to as PCDD/Fs–in contaminated samples. Thermo Scientific™ Application Note 10380 outlines the E.U. performance criteria for GC-MS/MS and illustrates its performance compared to that of GC-HRMS. Learn More

Analysis of Breast Milk to Determine Agent Orange Exposure
Scientists in Vietnam have performed high‑resolution gas chromatography coupled with high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRGC–HRMS) analysis of breast milk to determine the level of dioxin and furan exposure around the Da Nang Agent Orange hotspot in Vietnam. Agent Orange contamination is associated with elevated and persistent levels of dioxins and furans in the environment and are associated with the occurrence of birth defects among other side effects.

Next Generation UHPLC Technologies: Change the Landscape in LC
This webinar is all about UHPLC performance. How can new column technology, delivering the best separation power, be married with the best UHPLC hardware to ensure that the result is an outstanding one? How can we, as chromatographers, ensure that even very complex and unfamiliar samples are assayed with the highest scrutiny possible?

Automated Solid Phase Extraction for the Environmental Testing Laboratory
The first part of the webinar will discuss how automated sample preparation can benefit analytical laboratories. The second part of the webinar will present data from Orange County Water District (OCWD) where eight nitrosamines, 1, 4-dioxane and other emerging contaminants are monitored at sub parts per trillion levels. We will discuss the use of sample flow rate, elution time, drying time, and nitrogen gas flow rate as key operational parameters within the solid-phase extraction process to optimize the analytical step.

Development and Applications of Liquid Chromatography-High Resolution Mass Spectrometry for the Analysis of Chemical Contaminants in Foods
Novel qualitative and quantitative methods using ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole-orbital ion trap mass spectrometry (UHPLC–Q-Orbital trap MS) for the analysis of mycotoxins in finished grain products and pesticides in teas will be presented. The performance characteristics of these studies using both LC–MS-MS and UHPLC–Q-Orbital trap MS will be compared.
