DAY 3 - Monday, October 7

Welcome

Ophthalmology Times Europe welcomes ophthalmic professionals from around the world to Amsterdam. On day three of the ESCRS we report about lectures on IOLs, OCT and congenital cataracts. Today's newsletter also includes a couple of product reviews from the show floor and of course our food and drink recommendations. Don't forget to pick up a copy the OTEurope travel guide, seeingAmsterdam.

LATEST LECTURES

IOLs, OCT and congenital cataracts

On day three we have found some interesting cataract focused lectures to tantalize you. These included two presentations on IOLs, which bookmark the day's highlights. The first is on post-op positioning and the other on customized IOLs. In between these we have featured reviews of real-time OCT in femto-cataract surgery and tips on surgery for congenital cataract. » MORE

ESCRS AMSTERDAM CITY GUIDE 2013

Best of the bars

If you are more of a grape enthusiast, SoVine (Amstelveenseweg) will certainly be a must. Spread over two floors, SoVine boasts a multitude of wines from all over the world and if you get stuck the knowledgeable bar staff will be able to help. For those who are looking for a more intimate and cosy location then the small Café Belgique is the place to go on Gravenstraat, where you can enjoy various Belgian beers with the arty crowd that often frequents the bar. Read our seeingAmsterdam travel guide here or or pick one up at booth N07.

Riveting restaurants

For all those non-meat eaters (or those who simply fancy a vegetarian treat) the De Bolhoed on Prinsengracht will be ideal. The former hat shop offers modern organic vegetarian cuisine in generous portion sizes. If, however, you are looking for a more intimate affair, then Bouchon du Centre is highly recommended. Located on Falckstraat, this restaurant is a one-woman operation serving up home-cooked French dishes from local ingredients. You can read more about these restaurants in SeeingAmsterdam. » MORE
