CESI-MS: A New Perspective for Metabolic Profiling of Body Fluids
Until recently, a promising solution to couple capillary electrophoresis to electrospray ionization mass spectrometry has only been available to a small group of experts. Now, a novel front-end separation and ionization technology, developed by Beckman Coulter, is opening up the technique to a wider audience. This has the potential to offer highly sensitive analysis, providing scientists with important, previously unavailable information — for example, the detection of low-abundance metabolites in body fluids and enabling more extended coverage of the metabolome.

Pittcon 2012 Plenary Lecture Announced
WThe Pittcon Program Committee has announced that Dr. R. Graham Cooks, Henry B. Hass Distinguished Professor, Analytical Chemistry, Purdue University, Illinois, will deliver the Pittcon 2012 Plenary Lecture, titled “Ambient Ionization and Mini Mass Spectrometers: In-situ MS for Everyone.” The plenary lecture will be part of the opening session for the event, which will be held in the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, March 11–15, 2012.
