Striking Oil: Separation Science in Marine Pollution Analysis
Chris Reddy from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution spoke to LCGC about the role of chromatography in the ongoing environmental analysis of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, how comprehensive GCXGC works in practice, and why this oil spill led to the return of thin layer chromatography (TLC) to his laboratory.
Automated Solution for Environmental testing
Environmental researchers fight a constant battle to detect and quantify ever-lower amounts of compounds-often in challenging matricies-with greater accuracy and in less time.
To meet these challenges, the Thermo Scientific™ EQUAN Max Plus™ automated solution for online sample preparation with Thermo Scientific™ TSQ Quantiva and TSQ Endura™ triple quadrupole MS provide reliability and performance to meet and exceed your needs today and in the future. Learn more.

Environmental Nanoparticles
Engineered nanoparticles released into the environment may affect the growth of agriculturally important crops, according to a new study published in the journal of Environmental Science and Technology. Scientists from The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station (Connecticut, USA) investigated the effect of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and C60 fullerenes on plant growth.

Improving GPC Reproducibility and Resolution in Polymer Characterization
Tuesday, January 14, 2014
1:00 PM EST
Increasing challenges in polymer characterization may require methods that provide more detail on the polymers as well as greater accuracy and reproducibility. Selecting the best GPC solution – column, detector and method – can be difficult. This presentation will review column and instrument technologies that provide potential solutions to increase resolution, reduce variability in chromatographic results, and provide enhanced detail in every analysis.
