Many areas of purple ecchymosis
|
An 82-year-old woman who volunteers at a local botanical garden during the summer noticed what appeared to be purple bruises primarily on her arms and hands. These were areas on her body that received uninterrupted sun exposure, but she was diligent about using sunscreen. She hadn't developed the purple marks, or ecchymosis, during previous summers at the botanical garden. The only change in her behavior, she said, was the practice of taking aspirin each day at her doctor's suggestion. |
