This video-based, evidenced-based education on new and emerging discoveries within women's healthcare addresses the following unique needs of the female patient:
Repeated prenatal corticosteroids for preterm birth of no benefit at 2 years. Upon completion the participant should be better able to:
• Identify the treatment plan for women at risk of preterm delivery who were the primary targeted patients for corticosteroid therapy
• Describe the results between the offspring of women treated with corticosteroids versus those treated with placebo.
Progesterone does not prolong pregnancy after preterm PROM. Upon completion the participant should be better able to:
• Explain the effects of progesterone on preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM)
• Describe the effects of progesterone on several neonatal outcomes.
Return to traditional ways of assisting delivery cuts anal sphincter injuries. Upon completion the participant should be better able to:
• Describe the methods taught and used by labor personnel to decrease and prevent anal tears during vaginal delivery
• Explain the results found in this study between procedural changes and the reduction in anal sphincter tears.
