Featured Application Note:
Comprehensive Multi-Residue-Screening in Food and Feed
By Markus Kellmann, Andreas Wieghaus, Dipankar Ghosh
Thermo Fisher Scientific
The Thermo Scientific Exactive LC-MS Orbitrap benchtop mass spectrometer demonstrates the analytical advantages of using high resolution (> 40,000) for the accurate screening of pesticides in complex matrices. Read more about the superior mass resolving power compared to that obtained using TOF instruments.

Hyphenated
Aroma profiling of tobacco using an integrated headspace-thermal desorption (HD-TD) GC/MS system and TargetView software
Dr Daniel Cooper / ALMSCO International

Application note describing the aroma profiling of tobacco using HS-TD-GC/MS analysis. Compound detection is achieved using TargetView software, which interrogates the GC/MS TIC spectra, rapidly screening for specific compounds of interest.
Confirmation and Quantitation of Benzoylecgonine in Urine
Matthew Lambing, Eric Phillips, Trisa Robarge / Thermo Fisher Scientific

The methodology described offers a means for a forensic toxicology laboratory to confirm and quantify benzoylecgonine in human urine. The assay offers a broad linearity to cover a wide range of analyte concentrations, reducing the need for dilutions.

Identification and Quantitation of Pharmaceutical and Personal Care Products in Water
Andre Schreiber, Rolf Kern / AB SCIEX

The high sensitiviity and specificity of LC/MS/MS allows for direct injection to identify and quantify PPCP's in water. This application note describes a robust, reproducible method to measure 80 Endocrine Disrupting Compounds (EDC's) and PPCP's at trace levels.
Sensitive Neurotransmitter Analysis
Hendrik-Jan Brouwer, Nico Reinhoud, Lusi van Heerwaarden, Martin Eysberg / Antec

For utmost sensitivity in Neurotransmitter analysis, Antec provides dedicated ALEXYS™ Analyzers for monoamines and metabolites, acetylcholine, GABA and Glu, etc. In this application note the parallel analysis of all monoamines and metabolites are highlighted with detection limits as low as 0.2 fmol (on column).
Peptide Mapping of Ovalbumin
Pranathi Perati / Dionex Corporation

This application note describes the peptide mapping of ovalbumin using reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography and prediction of phosphopeptide elution.
Hydroxyethyl  Starch Characterization by Light Scattering
Wyatt Technology

Hydroxyethylstarches (HES) are used increasingly as plasma expanders in medical applications. By coupling FFF technology to a  Multi Angle Light Scattering (MALS) detector, absolute values can be determined without making any assumptions.

Sample Prep
Iodide in Seawater and Saline Matrices
Deanna Hurum / Dionex Corporation

This application note describes the determination of iodide in seawater and other saline matrices using a reagent-free Ion Chromatography system with suppressed conductivity and UV detections.

LC/HPLC
Low level chiral impurity analysis by SFC
Melissa Dunkle, Alberto dos Santos Pereira, Frank David, Pat Sandra, Martin Vollmer / Agilent Technologies

Chiral impurity analysis by analytical SFC was assessed using 3 model compounds. Superior pre-conditioning of the supercritical CO2 resulted in low detector baseline noise and significantly increased sensitivity previously not achievable with SFC analysis. Therefore the Agilent 1260 Infinity analytical SFC allowed for quantitation of chiral impurities at the 0.05%-to 0.1% level next to the main compound.
